Waste Management Program
Waste management, aiming at protecting the natural resources, is a main priority for “Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD.A waste management program for Varna and Burgas Airports has been developed in this respect. Our underlying objective is avoiding waste accumulation. However, if rendered impossible, we endeavour to achieve reduction in the waste quantity, as well as prevention of generating dangerous wastes.
We aim at separate waste collecting, recycling and reuse of the wastes recycled. At Varna airport, waste is genereate mainly in such sectors as airplane servicing, luggage processing and passenger services, building maintenance and infrastructure construction. All wastes are separated on-site, according to their type and composition, upon which they are collected and submitted for respective treatment, recycling and reuse or, respectively, are made safe in compliance with the applicable laws. The Company activities are governed by regulations and coordination for separate waste collecting. Mixing different types of wastes is not allowed, particularly regarding construction, manufacture and dangerous wastes. No instances of mixing liquid and solid wastes have been found. The Management has set up relevant organization for separate collecting of wastes and appropriate conditions for their recycling. In this connection a permit has been obtained by the Ministry of Environment and Waters for processing and carrying out activities regarding wastes.
